The joy you derive when you read a great book is not comparable to anything physical.

It's more than exhilaration and orgasm. It is staying stationary and traveling to far flung places at the same time. It's beyond expression. Reading books put you in a world those who don't will never experience.

Books are more powerful than movies and music. They enter into the man and reconstruct him without his conscious effort. They make the man.

Every book contains the spirit, soul, flesh and blood of the author. Sometimes they contain the spirit of a city, country and even countries. Those who don't read live hollow lives, those who stop reading discover their lives become hollow.

As a young man I stumbled into the habit of reading and soon discovered that in books lie my future and life.
